Why pay for a designer at all?
It has been proven that, on average, every £100 design-led businesses invest in design repays £225 in increased sales. There can be little point in tackling a design project yourself when the costs in terms of an ineffective website and printing and potential ground lost against your competitors can be so high.
What kind of kind of printing should I use and what types of paper or card look best?
We have a lifetime of experience in print and know what kind of project requires which type of printing. Similarly we know what typography and imagery for use for each situation and what material or combinations of materials would have the best printed effect. We also know formats which don't work well and are to be avoided. Everything we handle is produced to a high professional standard.
We want a website but are concerned that we do not have enough technical knowledge to run it?
We explain everything using jargon-free language every step of the way. We lay out the options and make sure that you understand their characteristics. We do not do anything chargeable without your agreement and without you being in the position of making informed choices.
How much does a website cost?
There are quite a few factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your website. These factors include how many pages you intend to have, if you require ecommerce / content management, the extent of ineractivity, the graphic design involved etc. You will also need web hosting (which we can provide) and domain name registration.
Do I need to hire a "local" website designer?
We create websites for clients who are local as well as out of our area. Using email and the telephone, it is possible to communicate very effectively with our clients and produce great results without meeting fact to face. It has to be said however that the process probably benefits from meeting(s).
How long does it take to have a website designed?
The time frame is determined by the size and complexity of your website. In all cases, the faster and more error free the content you provide, the quicker the process.
What is a URL?
It stands for "universal resource locator". This is the address typed in to view your web page on the Internet. For example, you would type in http://www.hardhatweb.co.uk to access our home page.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is your website address i.e. theholtstudio.co.uk that you choose and register with a registrar.
Can you to design my site and use my own web hosting?
Yes, that is fine. All we need to know is how you would like us to give you the site when ready i.e. on CD or published to your hosts servers.
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is the ‘parking space’ for your website on the internet.
What is site maintenance?
Maintenance is a general term which covers such things as SEO, updating email accounts as well as adding / amending content. Most good websites have new content updated regularly. Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back.
Do you offer any type of discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for schools and non profit organizations or charities that we believe are worthy of our support.
